What’s on July: Sunshine Coast

What's On Sunshine Coast

Get ready, Sunshine Coast! July has the P2P team in full, planning and progress mode! We are all about supporting people with disability and their families to take steps towards meaningful futures, and this month is no exception.

First up is the Sunshine Coast Advocacy Clinic, a free and confidential service delivered by People with Disability Australia. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by paperwork, unsure about your rights, or need help understanding systems like NDIS, guardianship, or supported decision-making – this clinic is here for you.

Miia, your local advocate based on the Sunshine Coast, brings warmth, experience, and a deep understanding of disability rights. The next clinic runs on Friday, July 11, and is available online or by phone, making it easy to access support when and where you need it.

Bookings are essential. Call 1800 777 723 or visit the Advocacy Clinic page for more details.

Also this month, Brainstorm Creative Workshops return with more opportunities for self-expression through writing and illustrating. These relaxed, inclusive sessions are a space to get creative, connect with others, and explore storytelling in new ways — no experience needed.

Brainstorm workshops are free to join and the crew meets every second Friday (mornings) at the Equity Works meeting room, Sunshine Plaza. Lunch provided. Contact Thomas Hamlyn-Harris 0401 504 383.

Looking ahead… Here’s a sneak peek at an exciting event that will soon be coming your way…

Following the success of the Disability Housing Bus tour, our team decided that it’s time for another one, so July is all about planning and putting together the most epic Volunteering Bus Tour!

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering but weren’t sure where to start, this is the perfect chance to explore what’s out there in a fun and supportive way.

This unique tour will visit local organisations that are inclusive and welcoming, helping people with disability discover where their passions and skills can make a real impact. Volunteering not only builds confidence and connection, it can even lead to employment opportunities.

Keep your eyes peeled – more details are coming soon!

Stay tuned for the official Volunteering Bus Tour date to be announced via social media.
