A cup of tea on a table

Jodi Wolthers, CEO of Parent to Parent, has been hosting community Morning Teas since November 2019. Having an opportunity to sit down and have a chat over a cuppa proved to benefit many attendees. It also allowed us to keep connected with our members .

The Morning Teas were a way of sharing information and connecting people with disabilities, their families, and carers.  Everyone who attended had the opportunity to contribute and gain updated information around the NDIS and find out about available services, what’s new, and what gaps need to be addressed.

Armed with this information from a grassroots level, it allows Jodi to give feedback at government meetings she attends.

To ensure this work continued, we changed the Morning Teas to being held virtually (online) in March, as COVID-19 restrictions were implemented.

Morning Teas took on a new look, continuing in a different format online with Virtual Morning Tea (VMT) sessions. Although it was a bit of a learning curve to master, we adapted quite well by changing the format slightly – to include a focus topic, and a special guest.

Recently people asked if we could hold some night sessions as work commitments stopped them from attending the VMT. So on the 18th August Jodi hosted Conversations from 5.30 pm – 6.30 pm – Wills, Guardianship, Trusts and Enduring Power of Attorney with a special guest from Disability Law Queensland.

Then on the 26th of August 5.30 pm – 6.30 pm, we will discuss the topic – Housing and Options Worth Considering [Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), Home modifications, New Builds] with special guest Shane de Klerk from P2P Housing

These Conversations are for members only. However, Membership is FREE and we’d love to have you onboard. To apply please see our Membership page.
