October is a busy month across the Fraser Coast and Hinkler regions, with plenty of opportunities to connect, learn, and share.
We’re starting the month with the Let’s Talk Hervey Bay Peer Group on Tuesday, 7 October, followed by the Let’s Talk Forum in Maryborough on Tuesday, 22 October. Both events are a chance for people with disability, families, and supporters to come together, have meaningful conversations, and strengthen community connections.
Our team will also be visiting Bundaberg Special School, Hervey Bay Special School, and Maryborough Special School to present Your Life, Your Rights. This free, co-facilitated workshop helps people with intellectual disability, along with their families and supporters, to understand their rights, explore advocacy, and learn how to make sure services are safe and fair.
Later in the month, we’re proud to host two safeTALK Workshops in Hervey Bay:
- 23 October – safeTALK Suicide Alertness for Everyone workshop for people with disability, families, carers, and allies. (Free workshop)
- 24 October – safeTALK for Disability and Community Sector Workers, where participants will learn and practice powerful, lifesaving skills in just four hours (Free workshop).
It’s wonderful to see so many opportunities this October for learning, advocacy, and building stronger communities together.
