Sunshine Coast

Support and Self-Expression

Families on the Sunshine Coast have plenty to look forward to this June, with opportunities to connect, build confidence, and explore new creative outlets. Whether you’re navigating complex systems or looking for a new way to express yourself, these two standout offerings are here to support you.

First up is the Sunshine Coast Advocacy Clinic, a free and confidential service delivered by People with Disability Australia. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by paperwork, unsure about your rights, or need help understanding systems like NDIS, guardianship, or supported decision-making — this clinic is here for you.

Miia, your local advocate based on the Sunshine Coast, brings warmth, experience, and a deep understanding of disability rights. The next clinic runs on Friday, June 13, and is available online or by phone, making it easy to access support when and where you need it.

Bookings are essential. Call 1800 777 723 or visit the Advocacy Clinic page for more details.

Also this month, Brainstorm Creative Workshops return with more opportunities for self-expression through writing and illustrating. These relaxed, inclusive sessions are a space to get creative, connect with others, and explore storytelling in new ways — no experience needed.

Brainstorm workshops are free to join and the crew meets every second Friday (mornings) at the Equity Works meeting room, Sunshine Plaza. Lunch provided. Contact Thomas Hamlyn-Harris 0401 504 383.

June is shaping up to be a month of support, creativity, and community connection.
