On Tuesday 3rd June, Payge and Alissa travelled to Adelaide to attend the SACID “Leading Through Inclusion” Conference.
As the QLD representative of Our Voice, Payge was invited to speak on behalf of Inclusion Australia and share with the audience the importance of self-advocacy.
SACID Conference, Adelaide – June 2025
In Payge’s words, what made SACID great was
- It was hosted by people with a disability.
- Warm, welcoming atmosphere that allowed participants to feel seen and heard.
- Choice was given to participants, allowing them to choose which speaker/workshop they would like to attend.
- SACID staff moved through the audience, allowing people to ask questions and share personal stories
- Making real connections with other participants that you may not have previously met.
They also caught up with friends from Darwin and Alice Springs, who had travelled even further to present their recent PATH teaching & learning experience, led by Payge, Beth & Matt. Their presentation discussed what it was like to do a first time PATH for other people with disabilities, for organisations as a training tool and for future facilitators.
We certainly hope that SACID members are able to join us at our Loud and Clear All Abilities Conference in October!
