The P2P Hervey Bay facilitator training course took place on Wednesday, the 12th of February, 2025. The team shared with us some photos of the event in the link below. In other news, the Let’s Talk Peer Group meeting was held on Wednesday, the 12th of March, and was attended by people with disabilities, allies, parents, and support staff.
The ‘Let’s Talk’ Fraser Coast Peer Group meeting held on Wednesday, 12 March was attended by people with disabilities, allies, parents, and support staff. The invited guest was Donna-Mae Sheppard who is the Coordinator for NDIS & Long Stay patients at Hervey bay and Maryborough Hospitals.
Among the topics discussed was Julian’s Key Health Passport (a tool that could help streamline the process of information sharing between patients, carers and hospital staff in the event of a hospital visit. The group discussed the Implementation of the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service Disability Plan 2024-2027 .
There was discussion within the group about the responsibilities held by support workers in relation to medication while their client is in hospital, the term noncompliance and finding possible alternatives in relation to people with disabilities while they’re in hospital, discharge summaries and their importance upon leaving hospital.
Next Fraser Coast Peer Group meeting is Wednesday 9th April.
