A spur of the moment decision to support the ‘Give me 5 for kids’ campaign by bidding to have the Mix FM breakfast show broadcast from our Woombye office on the 20th June turned out to be one of my best ideas this year.
I had no idea how many people listen to the same radio station as me but I quickly found out! People I know and people I was meeting for the first time told me that they had heard about Parent to Parent on the radio.
The enthusiasm of the office staff quickly spread to excitement throughout our extended networks. We wrote lists of the people we wanted to invite to share in the experience. Invites were created and sent out and phone calls were made to our local Your Life Your Choice families and the Woombye and Nambour Special Schools.
For the next few days there was constant discussion and ideas – “do we have enough flyers to hand out?”, “can we have bunting” and “we need to get our P2P shirts ready to wear”.
The breakfast will provide us with the opportunity to thank our many supporters and the town of Woombye that has welcomed us since we moved in last August. Thanks also to Mix FM and “Give me 5 for kids” for the opportunity to share breakfast with our friends and meet new people.
If you are a Sunshine Coast local and you have nothing planned for the morning of June 20 we would love to have you come and join us for breakfast and help raise money for children who spend time in the Nambour and Kawana Hospitals and their families.
