Loud and Clear QLD – Getting crafty for the “Bee the best I can bee”conference and concert
The focus of Loud and Clear Qld’s recent meeting was to create cardboard bees and flowers for the upcoming “Bee the best I can Bee” conference and concert—an all-abilities self advocacy conference for people with disabilities planned and delivered by people with disabilities.
The dates for the conference and concert are October 9th and 10th 2024
Amidst much creativity, laughter, and shared purpose, members of the self-advocacy group for people with intellectual disabilities proved that art and craft is more than just a pastime. It is an opportunity for expression, empowerment, and connection.
Gathered around tables filled with coloured paper, scissors, glue, and an array of decorative materials each member decorated their contribution.
The bees and flowers will be used to decorate The Station at Birtinya in October when members welcome people with disabilities from across Australia to attend the conference and concert and “Bee the best they can Bee”.
This event is a celebration of self-advocacy, where attendees will have the opportunity to listen to an assortment of speakers and participate in educational activities. The handmade bees and flowers will not only decorate the venue but also serve as a testament to the creativity and welcoming nature of Loud and Clear QLD members.
Through their annual conference and concert, Loud and Clear QLD members foster an opportunity for people with intellectual disabilities to be safe and supported and have fun. The member’s commitment to self-advocacy and inclusion is evident as they prepare for the upcoming conference and concert.
Loud and Clear Qld – demonstrating that everyone has the ability to “bee” the best version of themselves.
