About me

I am a mum to two beautiful children,  originally moving to QLD from chilly Canberra 11 years ago.

I have lived experience of a family member with a disability as my younger sister with Disability and Complex Mental Health navigates her way through life. This experience has shown me the many roads this takes us, as family members, on.

I decided to study Children’s Services when I left school and later completed qualifications in the Disability Industry leading me into Inclusion Support within Early Childhood Education settings, Employment and Training Support, Community and Personal Care Support , Coordination assistance for both residential services and community linkages.

I am proud to be a part of P2P, assisting our local Sunshine Coast and surrounding communities and have a keen interest in many areas of this ever changing landscape.

My Super Powers

  1. Resilience, first and foremost.
  2. Allowing our families the time to express themselves without judgement, I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life.
  3. Being able to put myself in someone’s position and really assist them to achieve an outcome no matter the barriers big or small… I will find a way!

Favourite quote

“I attract the essence of my thoughts…”

Top 3 favourite podcasts/book

Not without my daughter (Excellent read); Travel Guides (It doesn’t hurt to dream!);  Slow Cooker Central Volumes (dump and go cooking).

What I do at P2P

My day consists of assisting families who phone, walk in or email me to transition to the NDIS through understanding their plans and what is included, the services we provide here at P2P and how we play an important role in this process, making service bookings on the portal and and setting up family files with the correct documentation.. Each day brings variations of all of the above and more.

I attend Expos, Workshops, Advocacy Meetings and Events representing P2P whenever I can, engaging with the community and meeting people with disability and their families, after all this is why I do what I do and enjoy it so much!

Something I’d like to change about the NDIS/Disability Industry/Community

I would love to go to workplaces, schools and communities to educate on the importance of ‘People First Language’. I personally believe there is a real issue with the lack of education around this leading to ignorance that further marginalises our people living with Disability in the community.

Oh and to scrap the NDIS staffing caps please – we all need more support in the front line of this scheme.

I love working at P2P because…

I love that I can be a part of a workplace where I can be passionate and express myself….. just be me.

When I’m not at work I love…

Guinea Pigs! Most people that know me will know I am an avid Guinea Pig enthusiast. I enjoy the shows, cuddles, breed variations and personality of these funny little creatures. They bring me joy and love.

I enjoy nature, I like to sit outside and watch the birds feeding and the wildlife that beautiful Queensland surprises me with. I also love to walk the La Balsa and Point Cartwright lighthouse loop,  it truly is a paradise we are lucky to be a part of.

Something on my bucket list

Travel……everywhere…… Thailand is coming up but I think that the scenery set from the film ‘Avatar’ located in China would be very special to visit.

…. and to have a Sausage Dog.
